Mount Maroma in the Sierra de Tejeda
At 2065 metres Mt Maroma’s massive bulk dominates the hinterland behind Malaga and Nerja. From its summit plateau looking south it is possible to see across the Mediterranean to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, Africa. Although mainly on paths this is still a long, quality mountain day of at least 7 hours duration and has 1000m of ascent and over 1400m of descent. The summit is comparable to Ben Nevis in that in poor conditions it can be difficult to navigate and an error can have similar consequences, but whatever the time of year when the skies clear you will be rewarded with some stunning views as you walk off the mountain towards the sea in the warm afternoon sun. This is just one of the many summits available to you on our Spanish Summer Adventure Courses.
With cheap flights available from many UK airports and January temperatures averaging in the 20’s (at sea level) Spain is also the perfect winter destination.
